The Madcap Laughs Timelines: 1970s

EMI records released Syd Barretts debut solo album The Madcap Laughs on the Harvest label in the UK, (the title of the album comes from a line in the song Octopus). The album which also features David Gilmour and Roger Waters on various tracks as well as production duties peaked at #40 on the chart. Session drummer Jerry Shirley (Humble Pie) and Robert Wyatt from Soft Machine also appeared on the album. The nude woman appearing on the backside of the record sleeve was an acquaintance of Syd Barretts known as “Iggy the Eskimo”.
